Zumba15_38Zumba, the popular dance workout, has got a new twist with a special version for pregnant women and new mums – Zumba 4Bump.

Get fit and make friends. An experienced midwife takes part in every class: you can have fun and ask the questions you don’t ask in the clinic.

Zumba 4Bump is an adaptation of the Zumba Gold workout and has been devised by Oxford Brookes researchers and lecturers, Dr Lesley Smith and Ethel Burns, and Zumba instructor George Martini.


What to expect
Classes start with a gentle warm up, gradually building to more energetic dances with up-tempo music, the class slows down and is completed with some gentle stretching. An experienced midwife takes part in every class and will make sure you don’t over do it!

Stay afterwards for Club BUMP, relax and chat with friends and ask a midwife about whatever is concerning you. Different topics are discussed each week to help you prepare for pregnancy, birth and parenting.

 

 

 

When and where are the classes?
Witney – every Saturday 10-11am, Club BUMP 11-11.30am
High Street Methodist Church, 40 High Street, Witney, OX28 6HG

How much does it cost?
The first session is free and then we ask that you make a donation of £6 a session. If you think you will come after baby is born you can pay £30 for the whole year. No need to book just come along.

What do I wear?
Comfort is key and you don’t have to wear anything special. Wear loose, comfortable clothing that you can move freely in and any trainer-type flat shoes with non-slip soles.

When can I come?
You can come at any point during your pregnancy, from early on up until you have your baby. Exercise is an important part of achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle which benefits  your physical health and sense of well being.

My midwife says that my weight…blood pressure…diabetes puts me at risk of complications during my pregnancy. Can I still come?
The classes are appropriate for everyone. However if you have health complications which you think might stop you from exercising during your pregnancy such as high blood pressure then please contact us and an experienced midwife will be able to advise you on an individual basis.

Can I still come once I have given birth and can I bring my baby?
Absolutely, classes are definitely baby friendly and we welcome mums back as soon as they feel able. For some mums it’s only a matter of days but some take weeks or even months to return. We love it when our Bumps come back as Babies. Sometimes babies sleep through the class, or mums bring a rug and toys to amuse them.
